Programs & Learning

LEARNING THROUGH PLAY

The Australian Government’s Middle Years Learning Framework, "My Time, Our Place" guides our programming. This framework identifies five learning outcomes that promote and measure children’s social development and well being.

The five learning outcomes:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity

  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world

  • Children have a strong sense of well being

  • Children are confident and involved learners

  • Children are effective communicators.

We encourage children’s independence, self esteem and a strong sense of belonging through play. Staff do this by planning and evaluating:

  • activities

  • facilities

  • equipment

  • routines

  • procedures and

  • policies

so that children have the best possible opportunities to reach these outcomes.

OUR PROGRAMS

We involve staff and children in planning our before and after school activities. These activities cater for children’s likes, interests, abilities and needs.

We encourage children to participate in a range of activities, both indoors and outdoors. We support children to use the space and equipment to develop their own fun and interesting experiences.

Staff prepare the program weekly. It includes activities such as:

  • arts and crafts

  • board games

  • group games

  • sporting activities

  • cooking

  • dramatic play

  • reading

  • puzzles

  • music

  • science experiments

  • free play.

SENIORS CLUB

Seniors Club gives children in Years 5 and 6 more freedom and independence over activities. We hold Seniors Club activities in a separate space from juniors. Seniors Club members must agree to a set of behaviour guidelines.

HOMEWORK

We provide dictionaries, stationery and quiet areas for children to do homework if they want. While staff may assist children with their homework, they are not tutors.

EXTRA CURRICULAR

Click here for the form we use to allow us to walk and collect children from activities, please fill in and return asap to PACC or email it through to pacc@paccpetersham.com.au. This is a regulatory form which means we need this before releasing children as requested from the dept.

A healthy breakfast is available every day consisting of:

  • Cereals including weetbix, homemade granola, sultana bran and oats
